
What is Field of Screams?
Field of Screams is an outdoor haunted attraction. You will walk through the forest, and the woods by the James river with a group of 6-8 people. If you do not have 6-8 people in your group, we will pair you up with other guest to help us cut down on wait times. You will encounter live actors and many special effects. The walk through the Field will take approximately 30 minutes.
What are the hours of operation?
Field of Screams 417 will be open from 7pm until 11pm. (see calendar for full list of dates and hours) THE MASSACRE often stays open later to accommodate patrons on busy nights but the box office will never close earlier than posted times.
Are you open if it rains?
We will be open during light rain. We will close during heavy rain or lightning or if it has recently rained heavily. All ticket sales are final. If we have to close on the night you have purchased tickets for, your ticket will be honored any other night we are open. Feel free to check our Facebook page Field of Screams 417 for updates on closings. Please dress appropriately, this includes footwear.
What time does the line start forming?
Early in the season, arriving at opening time is fine, but as we get closer to Halloween the crowds get larger.
How long is the wait in line?
In general, we try to keep the wait time to under 1 hour. However, on the last 2 weekends in October and on Halloween the lines will be much longer. Try to come earlier in October if you would like to avoid the longer lines!
Can I make a reservation?
No. Field of Screams 417 is first come, first serve.
Does Field of Screams 417 offer group rates?
Yes, but group ticket sales must be arranged in advance. To arrange for group tickets, call the Group Sales line at 417.365.5383 or email fieldofscreams417@gmail.com. Include your name, contact information, date of visit, and size of group. We will then contact you to make arrangements.
Does Field of Screams 417 accept credit cards?
Yes, our box office accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
Are there any age restrictions?
Field of Screams 417 is recommended for adults, older teens and mature audiences only. Younger kids may come if parents choose to bring them, however it is not recommended. Carrying babies though is NOT allowed. There are no special prices for children and no refunds if anyone decides not to finish the haunt. There are many emergency exits throughout each attraction in case anyone gets too scared to continue.
If I am easily offended, should I attend?
Field of Screams 417 is a production. Both the line actors as well as some actors inside of the haunted house will entertain you, as well as scare you. Some things the actors may do may be considered offensive to you, however scary or comical to others. If you are easily offended, then attending Field of Screams 417 may not be for you.
Are the actors allowed to touch you?
The actors in Field of Screams 417 will not touch you. However, they do get very close. Occasionally you may brush up against their costumes or props, or you may get bumped into by an actor or a person in your group by accident. You may also come into contact with some of the sets.
Is there a lot of smoke in the haunted house?
We do use fog machines at Field of Screams 417. Should you find the smoke too intense there are emergency exits throughout the attraction?
Are there strobe lights?
Yes, we do use strobe lights.
Is it dark?
There are very dark areas in Field of Screams 417.
Is it a ride?
Visitors walk through all the attractions at Field of Screams 417.
Can I go in if I'm pregnant?
Field of Screams 417 Haunted Trail & Forest is NOT recommended for visitors who are pregnant, have heart conditions or are in general poor health.
Can my friends and I wear our Halloween costumes when we come to Field of Screams 417?
For safety reasons, patrons are not allowed to wear costumes.
Can we take photos inside the haunted house?
Photography of any kind is not permitted inside the haunted house. Please leave cell phones in your car or secure them in your pockets so you do not lose it inside the attractions.
Do you sell souvenirs?
We will be selling T-Shirts.
Does your attraction have security?
We have a full security staff on hand at all times. They have undergone training to keep you safe (even when it feels a little scary). All security staff are in communication via radios and we have infrared cameras placed throughout so we can see you even when you cannot see us.
Is there an ATM?
No, we do not have an ATM onsite.
Is there parking at Field of Screams 417?
There is free onsite Parking.
Please follow the parking attendant’s directions.
Please do not leave your trash in the Parking lot.
Can we bring our own food & drinks?
The consumption of outside food or drink is not permitted anywhere on our property. Feel free to visit our concessions booth or food truck to purchase something to eat or drink.
Is there a place to put my bag and other personal belongings?
We advise that patrons not bring any bags/purses with them. Please leave bags and other items, including hooded sweatshirts and large, bulky jackets at home or safe with a friend. We do not have lockers and assume no responsibility for lost or damaged items being carried by patrons or left in vehicles. Additionally, make sure that your cell phone and personal items being carried on your person are safely tucked away and stored.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Field of Screams is NOT wheelchair accessible.
If I get too scared, can I get out?
Yes, there are emergency exits located throughout the attractions in which you can leave if you are too scared to continue.
Are there Bathrooms at the haunted house?
Yes, we have Porta Potties that are located at the front of the building by the ticket office, probably a wise decision to use them before you enter.
Can I get a refund if I decide I am too scared to enter the haunted house or I Do not make it all the way through?
No, there are no refunds under any circumstances. You are paying us to scare you and we do enjoy our job.
Can I drop off my teenager?
It is safe to drop off your teenager at the front entrance. If you feel that your child can follow the rules, we have created a very organized and safe environment. Security will be stationed throughout the park to help keep things orderly and secure. We would recommend someone in each group have a cell phone to update you on when they need picked up.
Do we wait indoors or out?
All queue lines are located outdoors.
