What is Field of Screams?

 

Field of Screams is a seasonal, outdoor haunted attraction. Patrons adventure through a designated trail carved through fields and forests by the James river, in groups of 6 8 people. You will encounter live actors, sets and many special effects. The experience, not counting wait times, lasts approximately 30 - 45 minutes.

What are the hours of operation?


Field of Screams will be open from 7pm until 12am. (check HERE for a full list of dates) Last ticket is sold at midnight and the event will often stay open later to accommodate patrons on busy nights. The box office will never close earlier than posted times.

Are you open if it rains?

We will operate during light rain. We will close during heavy rain or lightning. All ticket sales are final. If we have to close on the night you have purchased tickets for, your ticket will be honored any other night we are open. Feel free to check our Facebook for updates on closings. Please dress appropriately, this includes footwear.

What time does the line start forming?


The line starts forming as soon as the ticket booth opens at 7pm. The first group will enter when the sun is low enough for the best experience (7:30 - 8:00). As we get closer to Halloween, the sun will set sooner, but the crowd will get larger and the wait times will get longer.

 

How long is the wait?


Early in the season, wait times typically range from 30 min to 1 hour. Towards the end of the season, wait times can be 2+ hours.

 

Can I make a reservation?


No. Field of Screams operates on a first come, first serve system.

 

Do YOU offer group rates?


Yes, but group ticket sales must be arranged in advance. To arrange for group tickets, call the Group Sales line at 417-365-5383 or email fieldofscreams417@gmail.com. Include your name, contact information, date you plan to visit, and size of group. We will then contact you to make the arrangements.

 

Do YOU accept credit cards?


Yes, our box office accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

 

Are there age restrictions?


Field of Screams is recommended for adults, older teens and mature audiences in general. Younger kids may enter if parents choose to bring them. Carrying babies or infants is NOT allowed. There are no special prices for children and no refunds if anyone decides they cant finish the haunt. There are many emergency exits throughout the attraction if anyone must exit early.

 

If I'm easily offended, should I attend?


Field of Screams is a production focused on horror and terror elements. Front of house actors and actors inside of the attraction are employed to entertain, suprise, shock and scare you. In this atmosphere, many things the actors might do may be considered offensive. We do maintain a strict employee policy for limited and passive use of profanity and vulgar language, but if you are easily offended, attending Field of Screams may not be recommended.

 

Are Actors allowed to touch ME?


Field of Screams actors are instrcuted, trained and warned not to touch patrons. However, the attraction is very close quarters in some areas and actors may occasionally brush up against patrons with their costumes or props. You may also come into contact with some of the sets in low light areas.

 

Is there ANY smoke OR FOG?


Yes, fog machines are used at Field of Screams. There is also natural occuring fog, depending on atmostphereic conditions.

 

Are there strobe lights?


Yes, strobe lights are heavily used. Epileptic patrons may ask for accomadations before entering the trail, but we cannot guarantee you will not experience flashing lights. It is not recommened those with epilepsey attend.

 

Is it dark?


Field of Screams has MANY dark lit areas

Is it a ride?


No, patrons walk through Field of Screams.

 

Can I go in if I'm pregnant?


Field of Screams is NOT recommended for those who are pregnant, have heart issues or other health conditions that make it hard to breath, see and walk.

 

Can WE wear Halloween costumes?


No. For safety reasons, patrons are not allowed to wear costumes.

 

Can we take photos inside the ATTRACTION?

Photography is not permitted inside the attraction as it slows down processing, distracts actors and presents the opportunity for patrons to lose personal property. Please leave cell phones in your car or keep them secure them in your pockets.

Do you sell MERCH?

We will be selling T-Shirts and possibly other Field of Screams merchandise.

Do you have security?

Yes, we have a full security staff on hand at all times. Some with military and police background, and all have undergone training to guarantee a secure environment at all times. All security staff are in communication via radio and we have infrared cameras placed throughout the attraction so we can see anything that happens.

Is there an ATM?

No, there is no ATM onsite.

Is there parking at Field of Screams?

There is free onsite Parking. When you arrive, follow the signs and parking attendant’s directionsParking lot security is limited and we are not liable for damaged or stolen property. keep your vehicles locked, windows up, and alarm engaged. Please do not leave your trash in the Parking lot.

do we bring our own food & drinks?

Outside food and beverages are not permitted anywhere on the property. Feel free to visit our concessions booth or a visiting food truck to purchase something to eat and/or drink.

Is there a place for my personal belongings?

No. We advise that patrons do not bring any personal bags, backpacks or purses with them. We do not have lockers and assume no responsibility for lost or damaged items. Additionally, make sure that your cell phone and personal items being carried on your person are safely tucked away and stored.

 

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Field of Screams is NOT wheelchair accessible.

If I get too scared, can I get out?

Yes, there are emergency exits located throughout the attractions in which you can leave if you are too scared to continue.

Are there Bathrooms?

Yes, we have Portable restrooms that are located at the front of the attraction by the ticket office. Wise to use them before you enter.

Can I get a refund if I decide Im too scared to finsih?

No, there are no refunds under any circumstances. You are paying us to scare you and we love our job.

Can I drop off my teenager?

It is not recommended to leave young teenagers unsupervised. If you feel that your child can follow rules, laws and is mature enough for horror and terror elements, they can attend without parentel guidance, but we are not liable for any injuries or keeping track of any one child. Security will be stationed throughout the park to help keep things orderly and secure, but Field of Screams is far from a day care or a night care.

Do we wait OUTSIDE?

All queue lines are located outdoors.
